LLANBERIS LAKE RAILWAY

This is a delightful little line, running alongside the lake at Llanberis, with wonderful views of the Snowdon Range, and, nearer at hand, the small solid tower of Dolbadarn Castle.  It’s narrow gauge, like the Ffestiniog and the Talyllyn, and like them too, has successfully expanded since first re-opening.  It now goes across the river to Llanberis itself, handy for the terminus of the Snowdon Mountain Railway.

This is number 1, Elidir at Gilfach Ddu on 13th June 1972. Delightfully diminutive !

At the time this was the terminus and main station, with a fine array of industrial buildings

Number 3, Dolbadarn, arriving at Gilfach Ddu on the same day with a short train from Penllyn.

Numbers 1 and 3 passing at the loop at Cei Llydan on 14th June 1972, with well filled trains and below, no 1, Elidor, at Penllyn, on the same day.
